Rev. Daniel e. jones
Rev. Daniel E. Jones (affectionately known as Danny) is the 2nd of 4 children, born to Johnna Jones on December 12, 1986 and raised on the west and south-sides of Chicago, IL. Always being a peculiar child, it is said that he preached his first sermon at the age of 7 months old, out of the window of his then west side childhood apartment.
He accepted Christ and was baptized at the age of 7 years old. In 1998, at the age of 12 years old, Rev Jones received and accepted his call to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. Arthur D. Griffin Sr. of the First Baptist Congregational Church of Chicago. He officially received his license to preach in January 2000 and was later ordained through another ministry in June 2015.
Under Dr. Griffin’s tutelage and his current Senior Pastor, The Rev. Dr. George W. Daniels, Rev. Jones was blessed to serve in an array of capacities such as one of the two Assistant Pastors, Children’s Church Pastor and the Youth Pastor of the First Baptist Congregational Church. He also had the honor of serving as the Youth Director of the North Woodriver Baptist District Association and the Illinois Missionary Baptist State Convention under the leadership of the Late Pastor Ricky T. Guyton and President Sidney Davis.
Rev. Jones is passionate about “being” who he was created/called to be and finds great joy in helping others organically uncover and discover who they are in Christ. He wholeheartedly believes in the power of creating community and building genuine relationships with those he comes in contact with on a day to day basis.
On December 3, 2022, the Original Providence Baptist Church of Chicago affirmed God’s decision to call Rev. Daniel E. Jones to be its 19th Senior Pastor. To God be the glory for the great things He has done!
There is much work ahead, but Rev. Jones is confident that He that has begun a good work in him is going to see it through to completion! His personal ministry motto is: “If I can help somebody as I travel along the way, then my living will not be in vain.”
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you to be a prophet to the nations.”
